2008 Mascots Of The Beijing Olympic Games
Every 4 years, the Olympic Games take place in a different city, and those cities have to adapt to the games, which includes; the movement of some people, the destruction and reconstruction of some buildings where the Games are. Beijing has started to get ready not less than 4 years ago, and some pretty impressive stadiums are waiting for the Olympians. Beijing construction crew is not a normal crew of constructors, they are genius of construction able to design some of the most amazing pieces of art. The design and the complexity of the buildings is what make them different and innovative. The people present at the event are not only going to enjoy a spectacular show by the athletes, but there also going to be astonished by the accomplishment of the constructors. Beijing is really going to be a nice and welcoming city for the 2008 summer Games.

The Olympic Games started very long ago, in Olympia, Greece. History tends to say that the games were first created by the gods, which competed against each other, showing off who was the best of the best. Back than, every participant would have to try each competition and the one obtaining the most points overall was declared as champion, The Champion. Now, each athletes have their own discipline, and the best ones maybe have two. Participating to the Olympics probably doesn't sound to you like something amazing, but when an athlete gives his life and time to work more than hard for a competition that is going to last 5 min or less or more depending, but so short compared to the time he took preparing himself for the big day, I think these athletes needs some recognition. This video link right here, http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=42PRLrEqcrM, is a video that I found on YouTube, and there is nothing said that is really important in the video, but it still is a great and very important video, because it represents the athletes, every athletes present that day, during the Montreal 1976 Games. Probably sounds weird, but these athletes are not doing this for the money, because back in the time, there was almost no money to win, but so much pride and glory. Being an athlete in the Olympic Games is more than being just an athlete, it is to be the best there is, doing your sport, and in life. Every great and clean athletes are great people also, and I think that it is really important for us to show them some appreciation.

Im-Patiently Waiting

On the official Beijing Olympic site, the countdown as already started, no more than 165 days before the Games. People all around the world are patiently waiting for the big day to come, while some others are impatiently waiting, still training and working hard to keep the shape before the biggest competition of their life. Athletes are getting ready since 2004, right after the other games ended, leaving some more happy and proud of themselves than others. Imagine working as hard as you could possibly imagine, for 4 years, and than the day of the competition arrives, the stress and the pressure of your whole country on your shoulder, you are on the starting line, getting ready to run the 200 meter hurdle, and at the third one, you hit it and fall, destroying the dream of your life. The athletes are scarifying their whole life to become the best at what they do, and the Olympic Games are the best way for them to earn the recognition of their country.

Les Jeux Olympiques de 2008 menaceraient les habitants de Beijing?

This article from the Journal De Montreal, talks about the fact that the Olympic Games causes too many people to move from their houses. The director of the construction comity, Sui Zhenjiang, says that the number of people that would have to move which is estimated to 1, 5 million, is by far way too high. He also mentions that ‘’ environ 40 000 habitants sont déplacés chaque année ‘’every year, 40 000 people are moved and only 2 000 of them are concerned about loosing their house due to the Olympic Games and that they get a good enough compensation so that they don’t have to worry about anything. The people are wondering why Sui is denying such a fact, even if it is so obvious.

Personally, I do agree with the numbers brought to us by our reporters that walked around and asked the population what they thought about the subject. Many of them agreed that there would be a lot more people moved than what the director of construction said. In this article wrote by La Presse Canadienne, there are many proofs in the articles that leads to the truth such as the fact that since this article was release, last summer, more people than said have already been moved from their house, to new condos build expressly for them. The Olympic Games are such a big event now that people would do everything to make their city look as good as possible because they want the recognition from the whole world for giving them such a good time at the games. People should not be worried about loosing their homes if the Olympic Games are in their city, it just makes no sense, the Olympic Games are one of the best moment in the world, where so many supporters and fans are there to support their favorite athletes. Beijing being one of the most populated cities, moving that many people can lead to some confrontations between the population and the comity, and that is the last thing anyone would want before the big event.

One thing is for sure, you can’t deny such a fact and just hope that by saying: ‘’ la ville souhaite "protéger" ses quartiers historiques et conserver leur ambiance ‘’ (he wants to preserve and keep the old historical monuments and places because he likes the ambiance) that your city will not be angry at you, because the ambiance will definitely not be the same during the games. I don’t think that by turning his people against him, Sui is doing a great job, because those people are the ones that give life to the Games.

Every 4 years, one of the biggest sports event happens in the world, The Olympics Games. This blog will give the opportunity to all its readers to learn more about the upcoming Summer Olympics Games in Beijing, and also stay in touch with the development of the event. My blog will help us to stay update about how the medias and people are treating and handling the situation before the big event. Since I come from Montreal, I know that Quebec is a religious province when it concerns sports events, so I will cover the Olympics as much as I can, from the point of view of the Quebec population and the Beijing one.

I personally enjoy many sports, and the Olympics game are a very good way to let the best of every categories show what there capable of. Not to forget the incredible stadium the comity is presently still getting ready for many other summer sports, such as cycling, running, and many more.
